Burnaby sits between Vancouver and the rest of Metro Vancouver, built around four distinct town centres rather than one single downtown. Metrotown anchors the south end as the region’s second-largest urban hub, home to Metropolis at Metrotown, the largest mall in British Columbia. Brentwood, in the northwest, has been reshaped by The Amazing Brentwood into a walkable district of new towers, restaurants, and public plazas. Lougheed rounds things out as a fast-growing, more affordable pocket where Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Vancouver meet. Two SkyTrain lines — Expo and Millennium — stitch these centres together and put downtown Vancouver 20 to 30 minutes away.

The Lifestyle

Mornings might start with a coffee run through Brentwood’s plaza or a walk around Deer Lake before the SkyTrain into downtown Vancouver. Lunch is a quick stop at Metropolis’s food hall or one of Kingsway’s long-running noodle houses. Evenings shift toward a patio in Brentwood, a hike up Burnaby Mountain for the sunset view from Simon Fraser University, or dinner along the ever-changing Lougheed strip. Weekends bring farmers markets, Central Park’s trails, and an easy SkyTrain hop into Vancouver or out to Coquitlam whenever you want a change of scenery.
